In Loving Memory

Meet Tess, she is a Paint horse weighing only 695 pounds.  Tess is 15hands and 250-300 pounds underweight.  She was severely dehydrated and very hungry.  Needless to say.  At the auction she was so exhausted, she couldn't keep her eyes open.  Her eyes are also severly infected and the right one is partly cloudy.

She has evidence that she was used in the Mexican Rodeo.  She has severe "rope burns" on both hind legs and also on her front, one more severe than the other.  WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS TO A HORSE?????

Tess is so weak in her back end, it takes her very slow and precise steps just to turn around.   How blessed we are that she is so very sweet to us.

10/08/07  Tess is now able to open both of her eyes. I walk out to her stall and call "Hello Beautiful" and she nickers!  She will have her vet visit tomorrow.

10/09/07  Tess had her first visit by our amazing Vet, Dr. Sickler!  We have to put three different types of medication in her injured eye, she may have possible nerve damage from the "tripping", possible founder in her front left and neurological damage in her back end from lack of nutrition and the "tripping".  Maybe she will build muscle back up in time, however she could be a wonderful companion horse.

10/10/07  Tess went on her first walk with our awesome volunteer, Brittany today.  Brittany was in heaven.  Tess is so much more responsive and continues to nicker for treats and carrots!

On July 13, 2006, Reva passed away with peace knowing that her filly would never end up in a bad place.

  Reva 10+ months pregnant

On March 17. 2006 at 8:30pm, Reva gave birth to a beautiful, healthy filly. Her labor and delivery went smoother than we expected, especially in the condition that Reva came to us in. We had no idea that she was this far along. On this day we celebrated a new and unexpected life. Cailin is a healthy filly who will carry on her mother's love for life.

Reva was such an incredible mother.

Before she left us she called out to another rescued mustang gelding named Dusty and I believe she asked him to take care of Cailin. Dusty has done just that, he has not left her side since Reva passed on.
