Mustang Rescue
|
 |

If you don't open your eyes to the beauty around you, you'll miss enjoying the world.
If you simply cast aside what you've never experienced it will be gone before you realize you wanted to.
The mustang breed is one that should be honored not thrown away, they are wonderful animals. The mustangs fit into horse society just as any other breed.
Like ALL horses they need love, support, and patience to become your friends.
Every horse has a right to live.
This page is dedicated to the mustangs at LUV Shack Ranch in an effort to help all mustangs. Hopefully with their example we can help change the ignorant opinion that mustangs are of no use and should be exterminated. |

Bravo is a permanent resident. His mother was a mustang. Joey found him at a Scottsdale auction, bid on him against a slaughter broker, put a little weight on him and found him a job that he loves. They ride Endurance together, something that a true mustang loves to do, RUN. They are also currently learning the Pareli method of horsemanship together.

Dusty is part mustang. His owner used him to guide trail rides. He became lame for the trail rides so she retired him to a safe place, the LUV Shack Ranch Rescue. However, Dusty didn't stay down long, he is now with his new owner riding in the desert everyday. LIFE is GOOD!

Most of these photos are of the baby mustangs first weeks after rescue.
The picture on the far left is Harley the day he was rescued from auction.
The Second photo was taken in December of 2004 of Harley fully recovered, healthy and happy at The LUV Shack Ranch. Harley has been adopted with a 17 year old girl who has been riding most of her life. The day that her mother surprised her with Harley at home in the corral, was a day of pure happiness for Harley and his new owner.

Delfica a mustang filly rescued from being sent to slaughter. Because she was nine months old she could be sent there. Her fate changed immediately when Joey went to the local "killer buyer" , purchased her and brought her home. She has been adopted to a wonderful woman who adores her!

Nakai, a gorgeous mustang rescued at 3 years old. She came from Maricopa off the Gila River Indian Reservation. In fact her father still roams free. Every once in awhile you will see him around the riding stables or the hotel next to the casino. She came to us as a very scared horse, Trust was a big issue! She is in training at Mike Stacy's. Building confidence, trust and respect. She is still available for adoption.

Juliet was rescued from the Auction after being rounded up and seperated from her mother, she was purchased by the LUV Shack at 2 months old. She had a cut in the crease of her thigh that we didn't know if she would have permanent damage. She is now 3 1/2 years old and trained to be riden. Juliet was adopted by her new owner. After going through Mike Stacy's training, her new owner trail rides on her with her husband. What an amazing ending! |
